I went to Wharf Southern Kitchen and Whiskey bar located on 37 Bowens Wharf, Newport, RI📍 This cute tavern in the heart of Newport features great comfort food and an excellent selection of drinks🍹
For appetizers we had their classic tater tots served with rosemary ketchup and mustard aioli 7/10. We also had their lump crab🦀 dip with wontons. The crab dip was cheesey🧀 and delicious! The seasoned wontons were paired perfectly with the dip and made it easily a favorite of the evening 8/10.
For entrees we had their southern kale 🥗salad which contained grilled chicken, mandarin orange🍊, pomegranate seeds, apples🍎, pecans and a mustard citrus vinaigrette. This was a great refreshing and healthy option 8/10.
We also got the frenchie sliders🍔 which had melted brie, mustard aioli and rosemary ketchup 8/10. These burgers were cooked perfectly!
Another favorite of the evening was the fried chicken 🍗and waffles🧇make with a Belgian waffle, organic fried chicken and spicy honey. Easily some of the best fried chicken I’ve had with a waffle. I find places usually have their chicken way too greasy and this was the opposite. So tasty and juicy! The perfect fried chicken 9/10.
For dessert we got the banana 🍌 pudding with nutmeg! I don’t typically see nutmeg in a banana pudding but it was a pleasantly tasty surprise 7/10.
If you are visiting Newport this summer I would definitely check out this spot. Coming soon is my review of Diegos right across the street.
